Oh, the Places You'll Go Tradition

Good Wednesday morning!

Hey, Baby! It's hot outside. Or in our case in Central Alabama, 81 degrees with 1,000 percent humidity. Yep. It's time to have James Spann explain the difference between 105 degree "dry" heat in the midweset and 81 degree "soppin' wet" heat in the Deep South... again.

Because The Enchanting Belinda just does NOT get it!

It may be because I'm so dehydrated, and I cannot recall what I've learned in my 30s, 40s and this past year, in my 50s. (The heat didn't bother me as much in my 20s. I was a tad bit more resilient then. It was a good decade.)

RANDOMNESS #1 - The Nashville-bound guys made it to their destination yesterday afternoon, and later attended the 9:30 show of the Grand Ole Opry.

These guys showed up during last night's show... Jimmy Dickens, Carrie Underwood, Easton Corbin, Del McCoury Band, Love and Theft, Bill Anderson and The Oak Ridge Boys. Josh was especially excited about Carrie Underwood, Easton Corbin and The Oak Ridge Boys... and I don't blame him.

I hope they are up and walking around Nashville right now looking for meandering country stars killing time before the CMAs tonight. That's what I would be doing. Yep. I would be up from sun up until sun down stalking famous people. And I would consider that a day well spent.

I have a feeling the guys are sleeping in and have no idea it is now 9:34 a.m. That bothers me, but I am not going to text or call or wake up anyone today. I am the picture of calm, cool, collected and go-with-the-flow. I am NOT going to interfere.

But if you would like to interfere, feel free to contact me, and I will give you all three of their cell numbers so you can get them up and OUT!

RANDOMNESS #2 - When all else fails, I have pictures of the dogs and/or teenage chicks. Today it was the dogs' turn!

I love the way Sparkle sleeps on her paw.

Copper does the same thing now. Oops! He caught me!

But I was patient... and patience paid off!

Wednesday Wisdom - Pinterest to the rescue again. I like this quote, so I will share it!

"Why fit in when you were born to stand out." Dr. Seuss

My first thought was, "Such a hard thing to teach teenagers."

My second thought was, "I need to remember that each and every day," which translates into "Such a hard thing to teach 50 year-olds."

Sad, but true.

Oh, the Places You'll Go Tradition

I found this on Pinterest and followed it to a blog called Lisa's Workshop (www.lisasworkshop.blogspot.com). Guess what? It's a scrapbooking website. Guess what else? It's a Creative Memories scrapbooking website. LOVE IT!

Since Dr. Seuss was our guest for Wednesday Wisdom, I thought it would be fun for him to inspire our Seasonal Tradition as well.

This tradition is specifically for moms with young, young kiddos!

"One of my scrapbooking friends shared this tradition, and I thought I’d pass it on to you!

"When her son was young, my friend purchased a copy of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” by Dr. Seuss. Throughout the years she secretly gave her son’s teachers the book to sign at the end of each school year. They left notes, poems and some just signed their name. When her son graduated from high school, she presented the book to him at his party. With the party going on all around him, he poured over it, going over each page, each signature, each note.

"I have one of these special books started for each of my boys, and plan on not only having their teachers sign the book, but also any other special people/teachers from the school. I plan on having the school principal, gym teacher, librarian, etc. sign the book next year after they have a chance to get to know the boys a bit more.

"I think this would be a great book to give a new mom, along with a note explaining the tradition.

"My friend first learned about this when she was asked to sign a copy of this book for one of her students. She then “stole” the idea for her own son. I invite you to steal the idea, too."

How about that? A tradition AND an idea for a baby shower gift.

I know. I know. I do way too much for y'all!

Have a lovely Wednesday. I'll be back tomorrow with more news about what the guys have been up to (I hope), Blog Linkage AND a Date or two.

Take care, and I'll talk to you in the morning.

Sincerely,

The Enchanting Belinda

  1. Oh My!! They were in town with the CMAs going on?? I would have been just like you and tried to spot all the famous people... too bad they slept.
Oh and I just love that idea for the Baby Shower/Book Tradition. I wish I had it when my babies were babies...I might just do it anyway and see if I can find their teachers...hoping they have not retired. Great ideas as usual, thanks Belinda!!
