Date Ideas Aplenty

Good Thursday morning!

Today's Randomness comes in the form of little bits and pieces of information. Easy to read, but meaningless as far as answering the age-old questions...

"Why do fools fall in love?"

"If Donnie could do it all again, would he still choose to wear purple socks every day of his teenage life?"

"Why does it NOT bother me that Barry Manilow continues to wear jackets with 1980s ginormous shoulder pads (or small pillows)... and I cannot because I have a 15 year-old daughter who would 'Die... Absolutely die!'"

"Why is it taking 12 years for my relatively small Exercise Mason Jar to be filled to the brim with quarters when I am exercising practically ALL the time?" (Seriously! Is someone stealing my quarters?)

"If 40 is the new 30, and 50 is the new 40, why do I feel 75 most mornings?"

RANDOMNESS #1 - The Chick wants to check into school later this morning. I made her sleep until she "naturally" woke up. She seems to be suffering from a severe head cold... and she wants to be medicated and sent to school. (We'll see.)

RANDOMNESS #2 - It's official. The Boy is no longer a Marching Southerner. Austin will be interning this fall. He is SO excited, because even though he is going to miss being a Southerner, he is going to be working on his internship which must be completed before he graduates. I'll have more details later, but it's a dream come true, I tell you. The Boy is happy.

RANDOMNESS #3 - The Avengers comes out tomorrow, and I am trying to find a time Mikie and I can see it. Right now, the 12:01 a.m. show tomorrow morning (also known as the infamous "Midnight Showing") is looking like the best possible time slot for us. Mikie is not going to be a happy camper.

RANDOMNESS #4 - Although my date idea is going to be used on The Dating Diva's blog, I have no idea when that is going to take place. You'll be glad to know, I am impatiently waiting (normal), and I will let you know as soon as I know (also, normal)!

RANDOMNESS #5 - A post full of such Randomness deserves Random pics, too. Enjoy!

This is the face I see each and every morning while I fix his and Sparkle's meal for the day. Precious.

Tuesday's recipe (No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies) was so incredibly easy. I am now officially angry I haven't been making these for over 20 years. (And so are my kids.)

College habits die hard. Austin always stays up well past midnight. Once he finishes school stuff, he unwinds playing X-Box Live with friends. He's home now (no school stuff), but he's still unwinding until 1:00 a.m. He makes me tired.

Blog Linkage - Here is your assigned reading for the day!

1. Go to "the anderson crew" under My Blog List and read today's post entitled "Embrace the Camera." At the bottom of the post, you will see a list of 50 ideas of pictures to take with your children. Excellent! (It's a list, so you know I have to mention it!)

2. Go to "Big Mama" under My Blog List and read today's post entitled "It's the big one, Elizabeth." This made me feel better about what may or may not be lurking under my beds and in my closets. It also inspired me to clean something out today.

3. Always, always, always go to "Six Sisters' Stuff" under My Blog List.

4. Go to www.kellehampton.com and read the post entitled "May Day" dated May 1. I love the way she dresses her girls in dresses to walk along the beach... and the way she takes pictures of the most unremarkable events of the day and makes them look so REMARKABLE.

Date Ideas Aplenty

Did you remember May was National Date Your Mate Month? It is. So today, I'm going to make a HUGE list of dates for you and your mate. HUGE!

Actually, there are seven dates listed, but that is six more than normal! It may not be HUGE, but it is significantly larger!

May 5 - Cinco de Mayo - Visit a local Mexican restaurant to celebrate.

May 6 - National No Diet Day - After dinner at home, go somewhere for dessert and coffee.

May 9 - National Train Day - Go to the Zoo with your date (no kids), and enjoy it together. Oh, and ride the train!

May 18 - International Museum Day - Pick a local museum and take your time plaque reading through the exhibits.

May 30 - National Water a Flower Day - Go to a local nursery and pick out a few plants or trees for the yard.

Between May 4 and May 13, Starbucks is having Happy Hour (3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.). You can get 50 percent off your favorite frappucino during this time frame. (That's a nice late afternoon date!)

In our fair city, the Magnolia Festival will begin May 4 through May 5. Go to www.magnoliafestival.org for details, and plan a couple of hours for you and yours to stroll hand-in-hand through the Festival.

Okay. There's your start-up list. And because I don't like to preach and NOT practice, I'll let you know when Mikie and I date during May... and where we decide to go!

Have a terrific Thursday. I'll be back tomorrow with Weekend Happenings, Randomness and pics.

Take care, and I'll talk to you in the morning.

Sincerely,

The Enchanting Belinda
