Mindless Monday

Good Monday morning!

It has been an emotional and meaningful Mother's Day Weekend around here.

I do not have a lot of words, but I do have a lot of pics.

Shocking, I know.

RANDOMNESS #1 - We lost Copper Saturday.

And when I say "we lost Copper Saturday," I mean we lost him through a hole in our fence, found him because of a wonderful neighbor, fixed the fence (we thought) and lost him again five minutes later...

And we couldn't find him Saturday night, Sunday morning, Sunday afternoon or Sunday night.

And I didn't enjoy Mother's Day Weekend because I didn't feel like I was a very good mother because I neglected to keep Copper safe and sound.

However, I felt like a FANTASTIC mother this morning. At 7:10 a.m., we received a call from a woman a few miles away saying she had our dog.

Roxie and I threw on clothes and ran to pick up the pup while Austin and Mike finished getting ready for work.

Copper stood up when he spotted The Big Gold Van, started wagging his tail and as soon as Roxie opened the door to scoop him up, he climbed into the van, obviously ready to go home.

The WONDERFUL woman who had rescued our dog said, "I'm so glad you love him. He's a sweet dog, and I didn't want him to go home to people who didn't care about him."

I thanked her profusely for feeding him, petting him and loving him until she found us, and then we had a sweet homecoming at Faulkner Farms this morning.

Roxie was late for school, but taking her with me to pick up our long, lost beagle seemed like the right thing to do.

And I enjoyed sending the following "tardy" note to the office this morning:

May 13, 2013

Please excuse Roxie Faulkner’s tardiness today. Our dog, Copper, has been missing all weekend, and we received a call this morning he was safe and sound a few miles away…

And we went to pick him up!

This is the best excuse note I’ve ever written!

Thank you.

Belinda Faulkner

I don't think I've ever told y'all The Story of Copper. It's a good story, and I think I'll work on it and share it with you Friday.

Until then, please know that the Faulkner Five (plus two beagles) are together again!

RANDOMNESS #2 - We attended MotherWalk 2013 for Ovarian Cancer Saturday morning, and it was a huge success.

I'll let the many pictures tell that story.

Roxie

Brad and Stephanie

Roxie told Grandmother to hold her hands "this way."

And Grandmother eventually asked (after the picture was taken) what "this way" meant.

Thankfully, it was "G" rated.

Roxie and Zac

Brad decided to rock the teal with Grandmother's jacket before the race. He wears florals well, don't you think?

Bev and Mom in front of the pink Breast Cancer Fire Truck. They decorated it with teal Ovarian Cancer ribbons for this event.

I loved the teal balloon ribbon. I think everyone should have one of these in their front yard.

The grandkids were going to "walk" the 5K because each and every one of them has had allergy/cold problems the past week... except for Josh.

Josh was going to walk with the others, but somewhere in the first ten seconds of the race, he decided to run...

And he finished the 5K in 33 minutes...

And I almost didn't get a picture of him crossing the Finish Line because I wasn't expecting it...

But Bev spotted him and I was able to capture this momentous moment. (Yes. I realize "momentous" and "moment" are practically the same word, but the phrase fits my mood!)

Last year we had pink-haired Roller Derby chicks cheering us across the Finish Line. This year, we had Bikers for Christ. They didn't have pink hair, but they "got the job done."

Katie, Roxie, Tim (and Zac) completed the 5K together.

Melia and Austin

Stephanie

Zac

I liked this guy.

Zac gets his limberness from his Aunt Belinda. I stretch like this before every class of Body Pump and Body Flow.

Yeah... right.

Brad, Stephanie and Grandmother

When you register as a Survivor, you are presented with roses at the end of the MotherWalk. Mom said this was her favorite part.

Josh and Grandmother

As soon as MotherWalk is over, we get in our vehicles and head to the Trussville Cracker Barrel for a celebratory brunch.

That's the grandkids favorite part.

Team Tootsie is still going strong... and we're looking forward to next year!

Have a fantastic week. I'll be back Friday with the following:

SEVERAL Dates
Mother's Day Pics
Summer Fun Ideas
Blog Linkage
The Story of Copper

Friday is going to be good!

Take care, and I'll talk to you the end of the week.

Sincerely,

The Enchanting Belinda

    1. Thank you, Dawn... and thank David again for us. It obviously "takes a village" to keep up with two beagles!

  2. Whew...while I AM MORE than glad you found Copper, I am not happy that I waited until 2:50 p.m. to know that. WISH you had blurted that out on your early morning delay notice. I've been on pins and needles all night and today (I'm at work and if you posted anything on fb I can't view that while at work). The bad news with our 'animal' family members...you can ask and ask what they were doing, why they ran away, didn't they know we were worried - and all they do is look at you and 'smile and/or wag' or purr and turn up their collective noses looking for a treat or their favorite napping spot never giving another thought to being lost. "What? I wasn't lost. I just wasn't here." :-)

  3. I am so sorry. I always want to know the "outcome" when someone posts something on FB... and I always get nervous and anxious when I have to wait to find out what happened... and I did the EXACT SAME THING!

    It won't happen again.

As far as Copper is concerned, you hit the nail on the head with your last sentence. "What? I wasn't lost. I just wasn't here."

I see you've met my beagle.

    Thanks!
