Mindless Monday, Blog Linkage, Cupid's Arrow Game

Good Monday AFTERNOON!

If you don't mind, I'm going to let a few pictures do the talking today...

RANDOMNESS #1 - As you may or may not know, the Girls' Varsity Basketball Team played for the Area Championship Trophy Saturday night.

I'll let you guess the outcome...

That's right. We are champions!

We haven't been Area Champions in over a decade!

It's a pretty big deal!

The way I understand it, we will play this Thursday night in the Sub-Regionals.

If we win that game, we will play in Jacksonville (where The Boy is currently working on his college education) one night next week.

If we win the Jacksonville games, we will play in the Final Four in Birmingham.

The Sub-Regionals, JSU and Final Four may or may not happen...

But nothing can take away the Area Championship Trophy. It belongs to the 2012-2013 Lady Rockets!

In other news... (Yes. There is other news.)

RANDOMNESS #2 - Grandpa will turn 86 years-old on the 15th of February. We celebrated with him yesterday.

He makes 86 look easy.

I feel bad, because I tend to make 51 look hard. Really, really hard.

RANDOMNESS #3 - The Boy dressed up a little and I took a picture of him before he headed back to school this morning.

My guys clean up SO well, don't they?

RANDOMNESS #4 - In a few days, we're going here...

And I cannot wait.

I need time in front of a fireplace... with my practically grown-up kids, nephews and niece in the same log cabin... sipping hot chocolate and reminiscing about our trips when they were SO small.

And I need a little adventure, too. The plan for this year's trip is to go snow-tubing down a mountain.

Of course, I'm going to stay at the bottom of the hill and take pictures until I see how everything works.

I don't want to risk life or limb FIRST. I'll let my practically grown-up kids, nephews and niece do that.

My main concern is how they get the tubes to stop.

Stopping is very important to me. I didn't learn how to stop properly when I was learning to snow ski, and I eventually had to ski into small trees to stop, gain control and try again.

Skiing into trees hurts. It hurts a lot.

I would imagine snow tubing into small trees is equally as painful.

Like I said... I'll need to watch the kids first.

Blog Linkage - Do you want to see some cute Valentine's Day ideas? I thought so.

1. Go to The Dating Divas under My Blog List and read today's post entitled "Cupid's Crazy Cafe." This would be SUCH a fun thing to do for your family.

2. Go to eighteen25 under My Blog List and read the February 9 post entitled "You Gotta See This." If you're still trying to decide on Valentine's for your little one to take to class, you might get some ideas from this post.

Cupid's Arrow Game

I found this on Pinterest, but I have played the game before... just not for Valentine's Day.

You will need the following:

1 box of wide straws (basic grocery store straw with stripes)
1 box of Q-tips
2 large bowls (heart shaped are cute)
Masking tape

1. Divide the family into teams. Place a heart shaped bowl in front of each team and place some tape about 2 feet back from each team's bowl.

2. Each team member needs a straw and the team needs a large pile of arrows (Q-tips). Tell the "Cupids" they have one minute to get as many "arrows" into their heart as possible.

3. To do this, you must place the straw in your mouth, load it with an "arrow," and then blow the "arrow" out the end of the straw towards the heart bowl. The team with the most arrows in the heart wins.

NOTE - You can play for fun OR candy prizes.

Have a lovely Monday. I'll be back Friday with all sorts of news!

Take care, and I'll talk to you at the end of the week.

Sincerely,

The Enchanting Belinda

  1. The snow tubing is a blast! Kids enjoyed their hour immensely! I will tell you a little secret (I know it's not the most honest thing - but oh well - I like to live dangerously). With everyone's coats on it's kind of hard to see the arm band. Joe and I didn't want to tube for an hour so we didn't pay. But after we watched for a while - we decided to sneak a try. We used the kids tubes while they waited (with the camera) and we went up a few times, then passed the tubes back to the kids and watched some more. Not sure if you're as dishonest as me - but thought I would pass it along. Also - be prepared to get wet! It's fake snow - so it melts quickly and is the soggy kind. Super fun though. There is a room up at the top that is inside with glass windows and hot choclate, coffee, etc. Enjoy your weekend trip!

    1. We cannot wait! Thanks for the info about wet snow and the hot chocolate room... and switching out the tubes. I had wondered if they would mind us taking a turn.

We're taking dry clothes for a Pancake Pantry lunch after tubing!
