Good Monday afternoon!
RANDOMNESS #1 - Asheville, North Carolina - As you may or may not know by now, The Chick has been in Asheville, North Carolina since May 25 working as a camp counselor at Camp Crestridge.
(And if you didn't already know this, where have you been? Hiding under an Alabama rock?!?!)
Sorry. Being away from The Chick for prolonged periods of time makes me just a tiny bit cranky.
Heavy, heavy sigh.
But, wait! There's more!
Mike and I drove up last Friday to meet up with her on a rare day off from her duties at Camp.
She got off work Friday afternoon, and headed to the hotel we had booked for our little visit. She got some much-needed rest before we started banging on the door later that evening.
Happy, happy Mikie.
Saturday morning, we woke up, got ready and headed out the door to explore her little corner of the world.
After a breakfast at King Daddy's in Asheville (chicken and waffles, BABY), we headed to Camp Crestridge and she gave us the unofficial tour.
This is her bunk.
This is her bunkhouse.
She shares this house with another counselor and ten 16 year-old girls.
This is her pool.
She lets other people at the Camp use it from time to time because that is the kind of Chick she has been brought up to be... generous!
I loved the Chapel.
After our Camp Crestridge visit, we headed down the mountain to Asheville. It is a spectacular city, and here are just a few of the things I loved about it!
Various and sundry street performers, here and there.
People take their puppies EVERWHERE...
Including the restaurants...
Inside and out.
Literally, everywhere!
There are beautiful flowers EVERYWHERE!
North Carolina bumblebee on a North Carolina flower.
Literally, everywhere!
And Asheville has their share of interesting murals, too.
Don't ask me why, but Robert Mitchum, Ladies and Gentlemen!
And finally, there are the Blue Ridge Mountains...
Breathtaking.
The "artsy-hippie-uber-laid-back-vibe" is very prevalent in Asheville. The clothes, the cars, the hair, the body art...
But despite all the differences we noticed, I am happy to report the people were very, very warm and friendly (especially the younger people who worked in the restaurants we frequented). They were especially nice!
Oh...
Just one more thing.
If and when you visit Asheville, be sure and go to The Chocolate Lounge.
It isn't just a dessert place.
It is THE dessert place.
I loved it so much!
RANDOMNESS #2 - 4th of July - Yep. It's that time again! Celebrating our country at my house!
After I took this pic, I gave Courtney the camera and let her go.
And I was not disappointed.
Katie and T.J.
RT and Melia.
Stephanie, Sawyer and Brad.
Beebo and Saw-Man.
Judith, RT, Katie and Sawyer.
Wanna know why I took a pic of all the babies and Katie?
Do ya?
Katie and T.J. are expecting a little one in February, so this is the official first pic of ALL the babies!
And as with all pics of toddlers and babes...
This was the best of the bunch!
When Josh heard that Sawyer was eating lunch without his shirt, he wasn't far behind.
Josh and Zac.
Zac's wearing the shirt Granddaddy wore every 4th of July.
Love that!
Outdoor games...
Baby pools...
Indoor games...
Blue cupcakes...
And more!
