Good Sunday afternoon!
As I talked about a little in the last post of 2020, there will be a few new Headings on the Blog this year...
Beginning today!
FROM THE HEART will feature those musings tugging at my heartstrings from time to time.
That being said, let's do one of those today!
FROM THE HEART
When my kids were small, I wanted to have devotions with them every day.
I learned having a daily devotion for two boys and a girl (all three years apart) did not always work out as planned, but Mike and I tried our hardest...
And sometimes it paid off big time!
(And sometimes... not so much.)
I now feel the urge to make sure the GrandTots have devotions when they spend the night at Pop and Nana's house (having devotions when they come over during the week for a couple of hours or a meal doesn't always work out, but spending the night gives us all kinds of time).
Following a story line when there might be five to eight days between devotions is not doable for us, so I found these simple, age-appropriate workbooks that teach very short character lessons about different Bible personalities. The workbooks use mazes, stickers and games, and the stories themselves are very short and to the point...
The devotion rarely lasts more than five minutes, but it is colorful and fun, and more often than not, it re-enforces Bible stories they have heard at home, in Sunday School or at School.
It's a win-win right now because as of the posting of this particular blog, whenever I say, "It's time to do a few pages in our devotion book," they are all about it!
Judith and RT each have their own book.
As you can see, age appropriate, colorful and holds their attention just fine.
I am going to plan on doing an Object Lesson Devotion once a month, and I'll share my favorite in my next post.
RANDOMNESS #1 - Judith's 6th Birthday - Here are a few pics from Judith's big day. COVID kept the celebration a bit small, but we had a good time.
An Elsa Cake, MouseTrap (one of Courtney's favorite games as a kid) and a pretty day outside made for a sweet 6th birthday.
RANDOMNESS #2 - RT's 4th Birthday - A few days later, RT had a party, too. Another COVID-type party, but fun, fun, fun.
Spiderman was the overall theme, but the Edgar's Strawberry Cake got a lot of attention, too.
RANDOMNESS #3 - Visiting the OC (Original Chick) - Mike and I scooted to Auburn yesterday for quality time with Roxie. We had brunch at The Hound, walked off the food we ate at The Hound and sat on the couch and talked a good hour or two before we headed back to Gardendale.
It was lovely...
And so was she.
Here is Mikie doing his Jack Nicholson impersonation...
Semi-normal for us...
And just Mike at The Hound.
Photo creds go to The Chick.
RANDOMNESS #4 - Glow Wild at the Birmingham Zoo - I hope, hope, hope they continue this tradition. We went on a Sunday night in January with Josh and family and it was SO lovely.
Okay. That's it for today. Short and sweet... and hopefully, directly to the point!
I think that's going to be my new motto for 2021!
See you soon.
Sincerely,
The Enchanting Belinda
