Zac's Birthday, Judith on a Weekend, Leftover Savannah AND Pinterest Stuff (PEZ Object Lesson and At-Home Date Night Ideas)

Good Sunday afternoon!

RANDOMNESS #1 - Zac's Birthday - Our youngest "cousin" will be 20 in a few days, and we celebrated with a Mexican fiesta this past weekend. Beverly and I no longer have any teens.

She won't admit it, but we are officially old.

Thankfully, we are getting to "start over" with the Grand-Tots.

Papa T and Sawyer.

Judith and Josh.

It is not unusual for someone to NOT be photogenic in our family.

It is, however, practically unheard of for that someone to be Judith.

Twenty looks ridiculously good on this guy.

I think adults may try too hard to eat a cupcake without making a mess.

The Tots seem to enjoy their sweets much more than the Over-Three Crowd, if you ask me.

Sawyer, Brad and Stephanie.

Courtney and Sawyer.

RANDOMNESS #2 - Judith on a Weekend - Roxie and Judith were both at the house this past weekend. If it is between me and Roxie, Judith will pick Ro-Ro all day, every day.

Piano playin'...

Hair stylin'...

And a little book readin'.

That's how you spend a Saturday morning with a three year-old.

RANDOMNESS #3 - Leftover Savannah - Just a few more pics to finish up the Savannah trip...

Before leaving town, we stopped at Leopold's Ice Cream Shoppe.

"Leopold’s Ice Cream was founded in 1919 by three brothers from Greece. They learned the art of candy and dessert making from an uncle who had already settled in America. George, Peter and Basil Leopold perfected their secret formulas and created the now world famous Leopold’s Ice Cream."

Very, very good!

This may be a surprise to some...

Mike and I like to visit art galleries.

I know, right?

Just when you think you know someone!

Mike's pretty good at figuring out the "artistic" ones before reading the plaque.

Me...

Not so much.

He came up behind me while I was trying to decipher the true meaning, and said within three seconds of looking at the painting, "See. It's the progression of life. You start out as a baby and end up an old man or woman."

My take on the same painting...

"As soon as all of the kids start coming in one door, all of the women, young and old, start running out the opposite door. Makes perfect sense."

I'm sure you won't be shocked to learn the painting is actually called "The Progression."

Yeah.

I totally missed that one.

You need dark gray skies to appreciate the Talmadge Bridge.

Any other sky doesn't do it justice.

PEZ Object Lesson

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

1. Holding a PEZ dispenser, ask the children if they know what it is and what it dispenses.

2. Ask if they would buy one if it dispensed broccoli, liver, etc.

3. Ask them if they think we could be like PEZ dispensers... always dispensing sweet things out of our mouths?

Well, we can... with kind words! If we dispense kind words then people will want to be around us.

4. Challenge them to make sweet things (words) come out of their mouths this week.

NOTE FROM ENCHANTING BELINDA - I remember Object Lessons from my youth which used any type of candy as the object.

Distinctly.

I remember them VERY distinctly.

I am assuming the children of today would not be much different.

At-Home Date Night Ideas

Play video games together.

Prepare dinner from another culture together. Play music and watch a movie that celebrates that area.

Work together to make a playlist of songs from when you were first together.

Chopped Challenge at home. Have a friend fill a bag with surprise ingredients and deliver it to your door. Set a timer and race the clock together.

Play darts. (Fun fact for you... The Enchanting Belinda LOVES darts.)

Watch the first movie you ever watched together.

Have a fantastic Sunday. I'll be back soon with some March traditions you can start with your family, recipes, etc., etc., etc.

Sincerely,

The Enchanting Belinda
